The announcement of the Dark Souls remaster at the Nintendo Direct earlier today is probably the best possible way to start 2018. While it was announced in a Nintendo Mini Direct, it is also coming to the PS4 and Xbox One; and while the Switch version of the game will run at 1080p and 30fps, if you choose to sacrifice that version’s portability, you can get better visuals.
Apparently, the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game will run at a glorious 60 frames per second, at 1080p resolutions. If you choose to play it on a PS4 Pro or an Xbox One, the game will run in an upscaled 4K, allowing you to praise the sun in the highest quality IQ possible.
Dark Souls originally came out on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, with a PC port following the next year. The game went on to become a modern classic, influencing countless others along the way. It will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch on May 25.
