Days Gone’s Key Art Showcases A Beautiful Yet Deadly World

Enjoy the scenery, but avoid the armies of the dead.

As one of Sony’s most major upcoming first party PS4 exclusives, there’s understandably plenty of hype and excitement surrounding Days Gone, developed by Bend Studio, and the developers have only gone and ratcheted it up a notch by releasing a new piece of key concept art for the game on their Twitter page.

The image, which you can see below, shows Deacon, the protagonist of Days Gone, lazily sitting in a lush, green environment with his back against his bike, enjoying a beautiful and bright afternoon. Oh, and he’s also surrounded by about half a dozen dead bodies, as well as a horde of about a gazillion zombies (or freakers, as they’re called in this game) rushing toward him in the background. But never mind that, look at that lovely lake in the backdrop!

Honestly, Days Gone’s contrastingly beautiful open world, built around emergent gameplay mechanics, has to be one of the game’s biggest draws, and Bend Studio seems to be very aware of that fact. They’ve spoken great deal about its large and seamless nature, and about how dynamic it’s going to be, and I can’t wait to fiddle around with its systems myself.

Days Gone launches on February 22 next year, exclusively for the PS4.
