Deep Down: Capcom Claims “Infinite Variations” for Dungeons

Of course they do.

The term “infinite variations” may hold true for many things – weapons and enemies, for example – but it’s tougher to achieve with levels, more specifically dungeons. Nonetheless, in a Facebook post translated by Gematsu, Capcom has claimed that Deep Down, its upcoming PS4-exclusive online RPG, will feature feature a random dungeon generator which is capable of “infinite variations”.

The generator will mix certain aspects up such as treasure chests, warp point, height variations, traps, ladders and much more. Capcom is looking to incorporate “include as intended” functionality, which essentially means that everything will be put together in a way that make sense despite being random. You won’t find treasure chests in the middle of nowhere, and each trap will see monsters attack you.

Deep Down wants to capitalize on dungeons being the best part of an RPG, and it’s interesting to see all the elements come together the way they have. Will it make for a compelling and unique experience though? We’ll find out in the coming months.
