Bungie’s next expansion for Destiny, Rise of Iron, will herald the arrival of Private Matches. This feature has been requested since the dawning days of the shared world shooter and will be available free to all Xbox One and PS4 players, even those who only own the base game.
Some new details have been revealed about Private Matches since then. As noted yesterday, you can modify the mode, map, score limit and even Light level of a match. How will bounties and loot drops work though? As it turns out, you can still complete bounties by playing Private Matches. However, loot with tiers of Legendary and above will not drop so don’t count on farming Three of Coins for a whole new range of Exotics.
It also seems Bungie is trying to work out how Private Matches will influence boosting or the practice of getting your friends together to complete PvP-specific parts of quests to earn powerful weapons. We’ll have to keep track of the game following Rise of Iron to really know how it shakes out.
Destiny: Rise of Iron is out on September 20th for Xbox One and PS4. What are your thoughts on the addition of Private Matches? Let us know below.
