Dev On PS4’s 8GB RAM: ‘It Didn’t Really Change That Much For Us’

Krillbite Studios' Adrian Tingstad Husby on PS4's memory.

Sony have received a lot of praise for including 8GB of RAM in its latest console, the PlayStation 4. Including the fast GDDR5 RAM memory has enabled the console to have faster access paths between the CPU and GPU, and the results are better multiplatform games on the PlayStation 4. However not all developers were overwhelmed by Sony’s move to include faster RAM.

“It didn’t really change that much for us,” Krillbite Studios’ Adrian Tingstad Husby said to GamingBolt. “We’ve not really been close to these restrictions on PC either, so for us, porting the game to PS4 is more about making our systems work with the PS4 architecture.”

It’s important to note that Adrian is not criticizing Sony’s move to include 8GB RAM but is simply stating his perspective from a development point of view. Krillbite Studios are currently working on porting Among the Sleep a first-person survival horror adventure.

He also revealed that they are targeting 1080p and 60fps. “That’s the target! But the PS4 version is still in development, so this is not definite.”
