Disco Elysium has been burning up the critical acclaim recently. The game is an old school style top down RPG that features a multitude of branching choices as you must chose what type of character you’ll be in a near future setting. The game has been exclusive to the PC for awhile, and requires a pretty beefy rig to play properly. But those who don’t have a rig to play it or are waiting for consoles got some good news today.
The Lead Designer Robert Kurvitz confirmed to Escapist Magazine that the game will have console ports sometime next year. They don’t want to hire a porting company and will handling it themselves and feel it’ll be a good fit for consoles, hoping it’ll bring the game to as many people as possible.
“The immediate plan, and this is why I won’t go on a holiday anytime soon, is to get Disco Elysium to as many people as possible,” Kurvitz said. “We’re going to port it next year to PlayStation and Xbox. We need to be very hands-on with the design of that. We don’t want to hire a porting company. We think it really is going to lend itself very well to console play because you don’t need to go over minute tactics and use a mouse because it’s very narrative in its nature.”
Disco Elysium is available now for purchase on PC. The game will at some point in 2020 release on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We’ll keep you updated when more specifics come through.
