Doom Will be Formally Revealed in 2015 for Consumers – Bethesda

QuakeCon demo won't be shown to the public any time soon.

id Software made the decision to offer a sneak peek at Doom, a reboot to their hallowed franchise, to attendees of QuakeCon 2014. Despite causing quite the stir, Bethesda’s Pete Hines has indicated in an interview with PC Gamer that it’s unlikely the game is formally revealed until 2015.

Hines said that the demo showcased won’t be revealed to the public and that a formal announcement will be made when the team is ready. “They’re like, ‘Look, we don’t want a stream to go up for a game that isn’t at the point where we would formally show it to the world, and now that thing is getting picked apart, and digested, and gone through frame-by-frame and getting nitpicked to death, when normally we wouldn’t be showing this to anybody at all.”

Bethesda made the decision to reveal something at QuakeCon though because he wanted to cater to id Software’s loyal fans. “We wanted to show something that gives them the confidence that it is still a viable studio that’s doing really cool stuff, that is making a game you want to play, and is treating Doom with the care and respect that you want.”

Hines finally added that “next year is normally when” Doom will likely be showcased. Can you wait that long? Let us know in the comments.
