This year’s Dota 2 International, the fourth and largest in the tournament’s history, has finally wrapped up and pro-gaming team Newbee took home the $5 million grand price after beating Vici Gaming in a best of five match.
The match started with Vici winning the first game but Newbee regained its composure to win three times in a row, thus cementing its place in history. Newbee’s team members consist of Chen “Hao” Zhihao, Zhang “Mu” Pan, Zhang “xiao8” Ning, Jiao “Banana” Wang, and Zhaohui “SanSheng” Wang, all Chinese players.
Vici still took the $1.5 million runner-up prize while North America’s Evil Geniuses came in third and received $1 million. The International was significant this year for offering a total of $10 million as its prize pool, the highest in the tournament’s history.
