Dragon Age 4 “Live” Elements Originally Planned, Being Reevaluated – Report

Bioware also contemplating ending development on Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Along with information on Bioware’s Anthem, the next big shared world experience from the studio behind the Mass Effect series, Kotaku’s Jason Schreier also learned more about the next Dragon Age. Sources speaking to Schreier noted that the highly anticipated sequel was meant to have “live” elements with a “heavy focus on characters and story.”

However, the report indicates that this is being reevaluated. Dragon Age: Inquisition has had multiplayer elements before but what “live” elements for the RPG could mean hasn’t been detailed. Given the controversy behind EA’s approach to games as a service over the past year, it should be interesting to see how things are handled here.

An official tweet from Dragon Age and executive producer Mark Darrah noted that both development teams were working hard. One thing that seems to be somewhat confirmed – that the next Dragon Age would be out after Anthem.

Kotaku’s report also stated that Bioware was discussing ending development on its MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic. As of now, with a small team working on the game, plans are “up in the air” according to a source.
