Dragon Quest 11 releases in Japan this week, for the PS4 and for the Nintendo 3DS- it’s a major new release, as Dragon Quest has always been a time of fanfare and celebration the Japanese market. Whether or not the new game lives up to that legacy remains to be seen- but for now, there are many who are countless just excited to finally get their hands on the game, which has been long in the coming.
If those people decide to get the PS4 version of the game, and to get it digitally, they will find that it comes in at a not insubstantial 30GB file size. This is especially remarkable since the game has no voice acting whatsoever- I imagine the music and high resolution assets have more to do with this than anything else.
The file size of the Nintendo 3DS version is unknown for now- but it isn’t likely to be this big (and will probably be just a little over 10% the PS4 version’s size, in the end). Dragon Quest 11 launches this week on 3DS and PS4 in Japan, with a Switch version due for release later. A release for the west has not yet been confirmed.
