According to the Japanese publication Minpokyo, a female Capcom employee claims she was bulled to the point of attempting suicide.
The unnamed 20+ year old woman joined Capcom in 2009 and had been a part of the Dragon’s Dogma development team. Trouble arose when another senior employee was made part of the team and reportedly picked on the unnamed woman.
She was allegedly unduly criticised in meetings and was often given tasks with no guidance and were impossible to fulfil. In one example, for months she worked on improving efficiency of game development with a database, only to be told that “even if the database is a success, [she was] worthless to the team.”
Following this, two senior staff members began to spread rumours that she was “problematic” and “her ideas stink”, as well as criticising her work ethic and punctuality. The woman even went to the Human Resources department, who she claims did nothing to rectify the situation.
After going being diagnosed with anxiety, the woman then went on sick leave, during which time she attempted suicide.
Upon returning to work, she was eventually suspended and then fired, prompting a lawsuit against Capcom.
Capcom declined to comment on the matter, citing the company policy of not discussing ongoing court cases.
