E3 2024 and 2025 Have Reportedly Been Cancelled

If the Los Angeles City Tourism Board is to be believed, we might not see E3 returning in 2024 or 2025, though the ESA says it hasn't finalized any plans yet.

It looks like E3 2024 and E3 2025 will not be taking place. The Los Angeles City Tourism Board recently held a meeting discussing upcoming events in the city, and published a summary of the meeting which noted that its outlook for the next couple of years “includes E3 cancellations for 2024 and 2025”, as caught by ResetEra user Rösti.

According to VideoGamesChronicle, the Entertainment Software Association has stated that it has not made any final decisions on the future of E3 in 2024 and the future. “ESA is currently having conversations about E3 2024 (and beyond), and no final decisions about the event have been made at this time,” said the organisation in a statement.

E3 has had a difficult time coming together for a few years now, owing to troubles leading up to 2020, as well the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. E3 2023 was officially cancelled back in March, with organiser ReedPop saying that it couldn’t find the interest from companies needed to host the event.

For context, E3 2018 was the last time the event was held in all of its glory, with E3 2019 suffering from Sony backing out of the event for the first time. E3 2021 was a digital-only event (with Sony missing once again), while E3 2022, like the 2020 event, was cancelled altogether.
