EA Access Requires Xbox Live Gold for Multiplayer

But you won't need Gold for other benefits, including unlimited access to EA titles.

The EA Access program hasn’t been the best received new service from the publisher – with Sony outright rejecting the proposal for PlayStation. However, at the very least, you won’t need Xbox Live Gold to access it.

EA clarified that you would need Gold for multiplayer though. “Any Xbox One gamer can join EA Access and take advantage of the benefits of membership. In order to connect to multiplayer gameplay on the Xbox One platform you will need a subscription to Xbox Gold.”

Introduced last week, EA Access allows players access to various games like FIFA and Battlefield with a 10 percent discount on digital games and DLC from the publisher. If that weren’t enough, you’ll also be able to download games five days ahead of official release. The service costs $5 per month and $30 per year. What are your thoughts on no longer requiring Xbox Live Gold for using the service? Let us know in the comments.
