The wait for a new college football game has dragged on far longer than anyone could have expected, but that wait is almost over. Earlier this year, EA Sports College Football 25 was officially announced, with full reveal set for May. That reveal is now here, with EA have released a new trailer that showcases a couple of minutes of in-game footage, while also detailing the game’s key features and modes in a blog post.
EA Sports College Football 25 will boast 134 FBS schools, with a suite of features dubbed CampusIQ serving as the on-field moment-to-moment gameplay’s backbone. As per EA Sports, it will deliver “strategic, fast-paced gameplay reflecting the true depth of college football”, in addition to including a wear and tear system for players, a pre-snap recognition system, and even gameplay-impacting homefield advantage distractions like screen shaking, missing pre-play icons, and moving play art.
Speaking of which, EA Sports College Football 25 is also placing a great deal of emphasis on “the decibel-shaking soundscape of college football”, which will entail “storied traditions, sights, and sounds that electrify college football stadiums”, including unique team run-outs, rivalry rituals, synchronized crowd-chants, mascots, and much more.
On top of that, the game will also boast a dynamic picture-in-picture play-call system, commentary from Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit in marquee matchups, and from Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer, and David Pollack in all other games.
Beyond the field itself, EA Sports College Football 25 will feature a number of modes for players to dive into. Dynasty will allow you to play as a custom created coach, and will also have a 32-player online option, while Road to Glory will see you playing as a student athlete as you “manage your weekly schedule, GPA and your image, earn Coach Trust to get more playing time.”
Of course, Ultimate Team will be included as well, featuring both head-to-head seasons and solo challenges, in addition to Champs and Champs Gauntlets. Cross-play has also been confirmed for the mode. Finally, Road to the College Football Playoffs is a new competitive mode that will task you with beating players to progress through the ranks, ascend up divisions, make the playoffs, and ultimately win the National Championship.
Outside of the modes, players will also have the option to use a Team Builder website, where you can design uniforms, helmets, your logo, and fields, and in turn upload it to use in the game. Specifically, Team Builder teams can be used in offline Play Now and private Dynasty modes. Players can also browse teams created by others.
As revealed previously, EA Sports College Football 25 will launch on July 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
