EA’s Peter Moore Criticizes HD Remasters: “We Don’t Do That Here”

"We're a company that just likes to push forward."

If you were holding out for a Mass Effect HD Remaster Collection, then EA COO Peter Moore has some bad news for you. Though various publishers like Microsoft, Capcom, Sony, etc. have taken to releasing HD remasters and ports of past games, Moore told IGN that it’s not something that EA is interested in.

“We’re a company that just likes to push forward. For a lot of companies, remakes are a way to drive revenue. It’s sub-cost, it’s an IP that’s there, you can remaster, and that’s great. We don’t do that here. I don’t think that’s ever been in our culture.” Moore also pointed out that EA doesn’t really have time to work on HD remasters.

There have been instances of EA compiling games into collection and releasing them on other platforms like the Mass Effect Trilogy but its games were available separately on the same console generation and not remastered. It doesn’t seem that remasters of past hits will be happening anytime soon either, though games like Mass Effect will be available on Xbox One through the upcoming backwards compatibility update.
