So, the Battlefield franchise has a bit of a track record by this point of broken promises. Battlefield 3’s launch was extremely messy, and then, incredibly, DICE somehow one upped that with Battlefield 4, which was an absolute, monumental disaster of epic proportions, causing untold damage to the brand and to the developer’s perception, and also to cause gamers to just simply lose trust in the franchise in general- something that was reflected in the muted reception that the next game in the franchise, Battlefield Hardline, got at its unveil.
Well, you’re all not the only ones. Even DICE’s ex designer Tim Kjell has spoken out, saying that buying Battlefield Hardline at launch would be a pretty bad idea.
“I would actually recommend people [not buy] Hardline [at launch] as well – it’s just a much better way to not throw money at promises that have yet to be proven. If the game however is really stable and great on launch, go buy it with a feeling of satisfaction of a great buy. That’s exactly what I’m gonna do at least,” he said.
