Ex-Valve Dev Kickstarts CastAR Augmented Virtual Reality Glasses

Virtual realty from ex-valvers

Two former Valve employees – Jeri Ellsworth, an inventor, and Rick Jonson, a programmer – are ready to resurface it seems, and in a big way. The two have just begun a Kickstarter campaign to fund their latest idea: CastAR augmented virtual reality glasses.

The CastAR augmented reality glasses will be lightweight glasses that project three-dimensional images onto a reflective sheet, producing holographic images and scenes right before your eyes. There are plenty of fun features programmed in as well, such as head-tracking, so that the scene moves along with you, and a joystick which allows you to interact with the things you’re looking at.

The device is already far enough along into the development process for it to have been demonstrated at several events in America. The pledged Kickstarter money will go into refining the product’s function and aesthetic.

A pledge of $189 or higher will net you a CastAR starter kit if you’re interested.
