Fan-made Resident Evil 2 Remake Looks Great

Using an Re4 style over the shoulder look.

A Resident Evil 2 fan, programmer Rod Lima, has taken key sections of the game and remade them using environments from the RE2 section of Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles. What’s more is that the “remake” does not feature the fixed, 2D camera angles of the original, rather a dynamic over the shoulder third person look like what we’ve seen in Resident Evil 4 and following iterations.

The programmer has done a quite resourceful thing, and borrowed everything from environments, character models, from Darkside Chronicles, and added a new weapons and inventory system to the game, while merging it with sound effects and cutscenes from the original Resident Evil 2.

“I’m not planning on do a Resident Evil 2 remake, (there’s already other groups taking it serious,” says the programmer Lima. “I made this only to see some codes actually working. And as the result was good, I decided to do a video. Just that.”I was fooling around with Darkside Chronicles animations. I started doing some basic moves, did some inventory HUD, some inventory weapons… Anyway it is pretty good. I’m not planning on do something big, but is fun to walk around on Raccoon City, RE4 style.”

There’s two videos above showing off the impressive work Lima has done. Take a look.
