Far Cry Primal, the newest entry in the Far Cry series from Ubisoft. Unlike the other Far Cry games, Primal takes you on a journey through time, into the time of prehistoric men, and their societies, their trials and tribulations. It’s very different and unique subject matter- and frankly, the setting alone seems exciting enough to make even the most jaded Ubisoft detractor want to give Primal a go.
However, as much as the setting changes things, there are other things that still have not changed- this is still a massive, open world Ubisoft release, and you know what that means- the game comes with its fair share of bugs and glitches.
But that’s why we’re here- we’re here to help. If you are running into any of these errors, this guide should hopefully help you deal with them.
First, let’s have a look at the game’s requirements:

- Processor: Intel Core i3-550 | AMD Phenom II X4 955 or equivalent
- RAM: 4GB
- Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (1GB VRAM) | AMD Radeon HD 5770 (1GB VRAM) or equivalent
- Hard Disk Space: 20 GB
- Peripherals: Windows-compatible keyboard, mouse, optional controller
RECOMMENDED:
- OS: Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit versions only)
- Processor: Intel Core i7-2600K | AMD FX-8350 or equivalent
- RAM: 8GB
- Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 | AMD Radeon R9 280X or equivalent
- Hard Disk Space: 20 GB
- Peripherals: Windows-compatible keyboard, mouse, optional controller
Ubisoft also noted that the following video cards will be officially supported:
AMD Radeon™ HD 5770 (1 GB VRAM) or better, HD 7000 / 200 / 300 / Fury X series
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 460 (1 GB VRAM) or better, GTX 500 / 600 / 700 / 900 / TITAN series

Fatal Error File System Failure
If this error occurs, you must either:
- Run the game (and Uplay) with Administrator privileges, failing which;
- Run the game (and Uplay) in compatibility mode
Weird Colors/Graphics Being Displayed
This is a fairly common problem for users with Nvidia cards. If you encounter it, close the game, go to your Nvidia control panel settings and choose PhysX settings for your processor instead of auto. Start the game again, and the problem should be solved.
Far Cry Primal Error Code 88500014
If you get this error code, your firewall blocks this game- this is an issue, because the game needs to connect to Ubisoft’s servers once (and only once, ever- don’t worry, this is not always online) for authentication. If you get this error code, go into your computer’s Control Panel/Settings menu and put FCPrimal.exe, UbisoftGameLauncher64.exe and UplayService.exe. on your firewall whitelist.
Mouse and Keyboard Don’t Respond
Make sure you don’t have any external peripherals- joysticks, gamepads, HDDs, printers, anything. if you do, disconnect it all, except for the keyboard and mouse, then restart the game.
Low FPS
Far Cry Primal seems to suffer from some performance issues, because it suffers from SLI/Crossfire compatibility. If you are using those, try switching the game to just one card only.
Irregular Sound
Another issue that is not new, but is in fact endemic to multiple Ubisoft games (you’d think they’d have their mess together at this point) is sound performance problems. If you run into these with Far Cry Primal, there is a fix- however, make sure it involves tinkering with some pretty important PC files. Make sure to backup your PC and game before you attempt this:
Go to System32 and delete some audio files.
Go to Far Cry Primal \ Support \ Software \ DirectX and install DXSETUP. This step should recover the files you deleted- Directx setup should recover them.”x3daudio1_0.dll to x3daudio1_7.dll ” and “XAudio2_0.dll to XAudio2_7.dll” deleted a total of 16 files.
Restart your computer
Note: Given that the wide range of PC hardware out there, the fixes mentioned here may or may not work for you. But it’s worth giving them a shot since these have worked for players who own the PC version of Far Cry Primal.
