FIFA 21 On Switch Will Be Another “Legacy Edition”

Spend money to get updated squads and kits and... yeah, that's it.

EA recently officially announced FIFA 21confirming, to no one’s surprise, that in addition to launching on current-gen consoles, it will also be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series X when those systems release later in the year. Of course, like previous years, FIFA 21 will also be releasing for the Nintendo Switch- but also like previous years, it might as well just skip the system altogether.

Why? Well, this doesn’t come as a surprise, given that this was the case with FIFA 20 as well, but EA have confirmed in an FAQ page for FIFA 21 that though the game will release for the Switch, it will be yet another Legacy Edition. In case you don’t know what that means, on the Switch, the game won’t have any new modes or newly introduced gameplay mechanics. It will just be the same as FIFA 20 (which was the same as FIFA 19), but with updated kits and squads, and – as per EA – “updated presentation” for “in-game menus and broadcast overlays.”

FIFA 21 will release on October 9. EA recently confirmed free PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades for the game. Read more on that through here.
