We already know that in spite of the development troubles Final Fantasy 7 Remake ran into, it is now out of pre-production and in actual development- but what does that actually mean? Square Enix games take long enough to develop that it can often be unclear how long from release they might be, even relative to traditionally understood milestones of game development.
However, apparently, in this case, development on the game is coming along better than Square Enix expected- as Gematsu reports, game director Tetsuya Nomura said that the game is proceeding pretty smoothly.
“[Development] is moving along more than expected, so please wait for the next news release with peace of mind,” he said, adding, “The direction was pretty much decided upon before we changed to internal development, and production is going well.”
This is good to hear, at any rate. It means that fans of the original game, who have been waiting for a remake for over a decade now, ever since Square first raised the tantalizing possibility before even the PS3 launched, may not have to wait that much longer for the game to come out in the end.
