Final Fantasy 7 Remake File Size Is A Whopping 100 GB

With current PSN download speeds, it should finish downloading by the time Remake Part 2 comes out.

Concerns about Final Fantasy 7 Remake possibly being small-scale project with not a lot of content on offer have been quite common pretty much since the day Square Enix announced that it would be an episodic release, especially with the first instalment only focusing on Midgar, which was at mot a 5-6 hour-long section in the original game. The developers, however, have maintained that each instalment is going to be as long as full-length Final Fantasy game– and if the game’s file size is anything to go by, that is indeed going to be the case.

Due to concerns about retail shortages for the game amidst global lockdowns to counter the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Square Enix have shipped the game early to many European and Australian markets, which means many already have the game in their hands. One such person, @RedMakuzawa on Twitter (spotted by DualShockers) posted an image of the physical copy of the game’s Deluxe Edition, and the back of the box mentions an instal size of at least 100 GB (in line with a similar report over month ago).

So… yeah, you’re gonna want to clear up some space on your PS4 for this one. And while a large instal size doesn’t automatically mean a large game (or vice versa), it does at least show that this probably won’t be the small-scale production some have feared it will be.

For those of you who’re planning on getting the game digitally, pre-loads will be going live quite early, just couple days from nowFinal Fantasy 7 Remake’s official global release date, meanwhile, is April 10.
