Undoubtedly Nintendo’s most successful foray into the mobile market so far has been Fire Emblem Heroes, which launched a year ago, bringing the popular turn based strategy/RPG franchise to iOS and Android smart devices.
The game has since gone on to become a major hit- how major? Well, according to a report by Sensor Tower, it has earned a staggering $295 million in its first year- which is almost six times as much as Mario’s much vaunted mobile debut with Super Mario Run managed to make.
As big as Fire Emblem Heroes is, however, it hasn’t even come close to some of the largest mobile games of all time, including Clash Royale, which accrued a staggering $967 million in revenue over its first year on the market; the true champion, however, is Pokemon GO, which, helmed by Niantic, managed to take home a jaw dropping $1.1 billion in its first year on the market. That’s absolutely bonkers.
Fire Emblem Heroes has nonetheless done well, and its continued popularity should ensure that Nintendo will have a good moneymaker on their hands for years to come.
