Sony president Hiroki Totoki has stated that we will get to learn more about the long-term vision behind Sony Interactive Entertainment later this month. This would indicate that there are likely some new announcements that will be made soon.
Totoki wrote about Sony Interactive Entertainment in a blog post on the official Sony Interactive website. Largely talking about Jim Ryan’s successors in Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino, the post also talks about the future of the company.
“Later this month you will learn more about the long-term vision for Sony Group and the essential role SIE plays in that vision,” wrote Totoki. “As I mentioned previously, FY24 marks the start of the Mid-Range Plan period for Sony Group in which we will set the course for sustainable growth.”
Totoki also mentions that, effective June 1, he will step down from his position as interim CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment and will take up the position of chairman. As a result, both Hulst and Nishino will report to Totoki once they take up their new positions.
The announcement that Hulst and Nishino would be the successors to previous SIE CEO Jim Ryan was made by Sony yesterday. The role is being split into two, with Hulst taking on the software and first-party development side of the business, while Nishino heads up the third-party development and hardware side.
