Ghostlight Will Now Also Focus On Bringing Japanese Games To Nintendo Switch

"Working on the Switch has been an awful lot of fun."

British publisher Ghostlight has had a long and pretty successful history of localizing Japanese games for Western markets, and over the years they’ve worked on plenty of major high profile titles. These include the likes of Persona 3 Portable for the PSP, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 for the Nintendo DS, and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked for the 3DS.

And though ithey’ve been working exclusively on bringing Japanese games to PC ever since 2014, having recently worked on games such as Way of the Samurai 3 and is sequel, that’s going to change soon. Ghostlight community manager Ross Brierley posted a blog on the official Ghostlight website recently, announcing that the publisher will now also be working on bringing Japanese games over to the West for the Nintendo Switch.

The update mentions that Ghostlight have managed to acquire the requisite license from Nintendo for doing so, and that even though they’ve enjoyed working on PC games, working on the Switch is something that they’ll also be focusing on going forward, instead of remaining exclusive to PC games. In fact, they’re already working on localization of a Switch JRG.

All the paperwork has gone through and I can tell you that we are now official Switch developers, and so are able to bring fantastic Japanese games to Nintendo Switch, as well as to PC,” the update reads. “In fact, we’ve already started work on our first port, a JRPG, that I’m not able to reveal just yet.”

“While we love bringing games to PC, working on the Switch has been an awful lot of fun.” Brierley’s post continues. “I hope you’re all looking forward to our Nintendo Switch releases as much as we are, and please stay tuned for more information on which JRPG we’re going to be bringing to Switch in the near future.”
