WB Games’ future has looked murky for some time now, amidst all the reports of its games division possibly being on shaky grounds amidst the AT&T merger, even though WB Games itself has maintained that those reports are inaccurate. Even so, with all the studios under its belt, it’s collectively got quite few big games coming up in 2022, one of which is WB Games Montreal’s open world action RPG Gotham Knights. It seems, however, that the studio has some other things in the works as well.
As spotted by VGC, the LinkedIn profile of Megan Berry – who is a senior artist at WB Games Montreal – mentions the an unannounced game in development at the studio. Her profile mentions that she “co-designed features, core gameplay pillars and co-founded the project with the creative director” on the game, and that this was all on top of their “current responsibilities on Gotham Knights.”
Before Gotham Knights, WB Games Montreal had been working on a sequel to the Batman: Arkham series that would see Damian Wayne starring as protagonist, although the game was cancelled. In 2018, it was revealed that the studio was working on “a couple” of games based on DC properties, one of which was presumably Gotham Knights.
What this unannounced game is and what becomes of it, especially if things with Warner Bros’ games division remain as uncertain as they are, remains to be seen. Gotham Knights, meanwhile, is due out some time next year (possibly Spring) for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
