Install base isn’t an excuse. It’s a flawed argument Terminator. Just because most PS3 gamers were still on the PS3 6 months after GT6 released doesn’t mean most GT fans decided to move onto the PS4. It doesn’t matter if the PS3 had an install base of 80 million and Xbox One only had an install base of 5 million.That is like Microsoft saying, “Well it’s ok if there were only 2 coppies of Halo 5 sold because only 4 Xbox Ones have been sold.” The ratio of game sales to install base is irrelevant. There was only about 14 million coppies of Gran Turismo 4 sold on a total of about 160 million PS2s sold which is a large gap in game sales to install base ratio.

Just because the ratio of games sold to consoles sold is close, such as Forza 5, doesn’t mean it wasn’t a disappointment. It could just mean you have low game sales because nobody wants Forza 5 therefore nobody bought an Xbox One, where as people wanted a PS2 but most people who wanted a PS2 didn’t care about Gran Turismo 4. Total game sales are what determine demand and popularity period.

The PS3 is an old console and many Gran Turismo fans could’ve moved onto the PS4, which would explain why Gran Turismo 6 sold less than Gran Turismo 5. If Gran Turismo 6 was on the PS4 as well, it could’ve sold more. But Xbox One is a completely new console with a big enough install base for Forza to sell a lot, so why did Forza 5 sell so much less than Gran Turismo 6 and why did Forza 6 sell even less than Forza 5? You claim Microsoft turned out the best sim racer on console ever, yet sales don’t reflect your fanboy claims. Why did Gran Turismo 6 on the ancient PS3 outsell “the greatest sim racer on console ever”?

Except there are still 80 million PS3’s . PS4 had barley been on the market. Most PS3 gamers were still on PS3 6 months after GT6 was released.

Like usual and GT was late and GT 6 should have been released on both consoles at the very least. Had they come to market on PS4. I would own a PS4 and I have at least 4 friends that would have bought a PS4 over xbox.

But at least Gran Turismo 6 has somewhat of a defense because it launched on the PS3 when people were already moving to the PS4.
