When Gran Turismo Sport was announced, I was actually pretty damn pumped for it- it looked like it was going to be a genuinely progressive entry in the formerly pioneering franchise that had become too unfocused in recent years. But the more I hear of the game, the more I lose excitement for it- for instance, the game will have less than 200 cars. Graphically, it looks pretty damn lacking. It will be lacking basic features like dynamic time of the day and weather transitions. And, it looks like it may be lacking the most basic requirement of them all- an offline single player career mode.
According to an analysis of the game’s modes on the GTPlanet forums, it seems as though the campaign will be broken down into Beginner’s School made up of driving lessons, Circuit Experience which appears to be a mode for familiarizing yourself with the tracks, Mission Challenge that requires you to meet the goal of whatever the specific challenge is, and Racing Etiquette that bestows the valuable teachings of sportsmanship- this, and there is Sports Mode, which is the online component of the game.
Where is the single player Career Mode? It doesn’t look like it exists. Which… man, this game is sounding more and more like Street Fighter 5, something that might play well, but is going to be lacking in some very basic modes and features. What a disappointment.
