Polyphony’s Gran Turismo Sport isn’t out till next year but the developer is using that time to improve it fairly well. One of the cooler things GT Sport will apparently do is support 4K resolution at 60 FPS via checkerboard rendering on the PlayStation 4 Pro. This is according to series creator Kazunori Yamauchi in the Future of Play event in London.
HDR and PlayStation VR were also confirmed and OPM Australia’s Adam Mathew even noted on Twitter how the addition of HDR offered “night and day” kind of difference. Luminance can go up to 10,000 nits on the HDR spec (though no TVs support that just yet).
As for a release date, Gran Turismo Sport still doesn’t have one. The racing simulator was set to release this month but got delayed to allow for more polish. Yamauchi discussed earlier about taking time to properly perfect the game, a move which is apparently paying dividends in the implementation of HDR.
How will the improvement in visuals enhance the experience further? Stay tuned in the coming months to find out.
