Gran Turismo Sport launched as a very different game from what series fans have come to expect after 20 years of Sony and Polyphony Digital’s racing game franchise; an eSports focused title lacking a lot of the modes and content the series is known for, and even restricting people who tried to play it offline. As a result, the game ended up underperforming, and disappointing a lot of series fans worldwide.
However, upcoming updates to the game might end up fleshing it out some more, and making it a more attractive and valuable proposition. On the PlayStation Blog, Sony highlighted an upcoming series of updates for the game, which will add free new cars, a GT League mode which is based off of the classic GT Mode, and the ability to play the Livery Editor, Scapes and Campaign modes offline- although this is only a half step, because you will still need to connect to the internet to actually save your progress. Baby steps, I guess.
The first update will come on November 27, adding three new cars, followed by the GT League update in December; updates are scheduled to continue well after that, though. Hopefully Polyphony Digital continue to respond to player feedback with them. GT Sport is available now on PS4.
