Damage control! It only became free-to-play after its failure became known. Even then, it had paid-for DLC expansions that can now no longer be accessed or enjoyed, ever. All that user content, destroyed. Surely they’d have found a dusty Azure server to stick it on? So much for that lie 🙂

All those Azure servers lying around going unwanted it’s not really a surprise. Still, it’s no excuse for MS ending Project Spark, a paid for game that got the E3 spotlight and had a dedicated fanbase that spent hundreds of hours creating content for it that got wiped out at the touch of a button. Remind me again why that’s acceptable? Oh wait, you couldn’t. 🙂

It’s a shame MLB is so globally niche that it doesn’t get the widespread acclaim or attention the series deserves considering its near-identical Metacritic scores with the flagship racer. Just goes to show how much better PS’ first-party studios are. 🙂
