Sony is notorious for prematurely ending support of its online functionality for games and services- PS Mobile, the PSN Store on PSP, or Near on PS Vita, and support for games such as MAG, Resistance 3, and Gran Turismo, as well as, every year and like clockwork, MLB The Show, is testament to the fact that Sony isn’t the most trustworthy company around when it comes to long term online functionality.
Now we have another name to add to that list- Gravity Rush 2. Though it was primarily a single player game, it did have some online functionality- functionality that will be ending on January 19 next year, just a year after the game’s initial launch, according to the Japanese PlayStation Blog.
No reason for the discontinuation was given (and I honestly can’t fathom of any- I realize the game sold poorly, and that an even smaller subset of its playerbase actually plays online, but is it not Sony’s job as a first party to have loss leading products?)
If you want to try out the online content in the game, then, I guess you have until January 19 to do so. Gravity Rush 2 is available exclusively on the PS4.
