Half Life 3: Cinematic Mod for Half Life 2 Shows Series’ Future Potential

Even in its alpha stage, these screens look pretty good.

Half Life 3 continues to elude us and while it may be several years more until Valve Software serves to update us with any news about the game, we can at least have a few hints of what the game could look like. This is thanks to Fake Factory’s Cinematic Mod for Half Life 2, which has been pushing the boundaries for what the game can look like (and remember, that HL2 released almost 10 years ago).

Some of the newer additions to Cinema Mod 2013, which is currently in alpha 12 stage, indicate what Half Life 3 could look like with high res textures, more realistic facial depiction and increased foliage in some areas. We’re still a bit mixed on Alyx Vance’s new appearance – probably because it’s still a work in progress – but if Half Life 3 looked even remotely as good in its alpha stage, we’d be all over it.

Head on over to Fake Factory’s Cinematic Mod forums to check out how the original Half Life 2 compared to the new CM2013 screens. Hopefully, Valve will take a hint to all the Half Life 3 demand and just make an announcement already.
