Half Life 3: Dev Teams Spotted Through Valve User Picker, Trademark Filed in EU

A total of 56 team members are working on the highly anticipated sequel.

It’s that time of the year again – when Valve Software gives us a few choice crumbs of Half Life 3 goodness. Unlike the usual hints, winks and nudges that generally go nowhere, this is something a bit more definite. Following a trademark for the game filed in Europe, Reddit and Gematsu managed to find evidence of development teams for Half Life 3 through Valve’s User Picker software which was accessible to the public yesterday.

Showcasing staff databases, the software indicated two development teams for Half Life, one core team containing ten members and an extended team with 46 members. Keep in mind that Valve has already stated that Half Life 3 currently exists in “bits and pieces” and as such is in no discernible form. That there are teams working on it is no surprise, but the fact that it coincides with the recent trademark filing is pretty suspicious.

Are we one step closer to the announcement of Half Life 3 or are we still on the outside, looking in? Perhaps we’ll never know until Valve actually pulls the trigger but until then, Half Life 3 seemingly will not die.
