Halo: The Master Chief Collection Gets Update with Steam Deck Support

The Steam version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection now has proper support for Steam Deck.

Developer 343 Industries has released a new update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The major feature of the new update is proper Steam Deck support for the collection of classic Halo titles.

While Halo: The Master Chief Collection has been playable on the Steam Deck for quite a while, the game didn’t allow players to be able to play multiplayer through matchmaking because of its use of Easy Anti-Cheat, which has notoriously dodgy support on the PC gaming handheld.

With the new update, however, players will now be able to access any mode that makes use of Easy Anti-Cheat, including multiplayer matchmaking and the Custom Game Browser.

The new update is only available on the Steam version of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and the Microsoft Store version of the game is getting no such update. Alongside support for the Steam Deck, 343 Industries has also added three new Steam Deck-related issues to its list of Known Issues for the game.

The biggest of the known issues for now is the inability for Steam Deck players to be able to play the Campaign Co-op or Spartan Ops modes with players on PC or Xbox players, leading to a “Connection Interrupted” error. There is no current workaround for this issue.
