Havok: Next gen should feature extensive destructible physics

The next gen consoles will be powerful enough to make this possible.

Havok’s worldwide head of product management Andrew Bowell has told GamesIndustry International that all next-gen games should feature destruction physics of some kind.

This gen wasn’t really that known for destructible environments but we did see some games like Battlefield 3 utilizing such physics in the multiplayer.

“The way that ragdolls became the last generation thing and everything had to be ragdolls, we reckon next generation, everything’s going to have to be destructible,” he said.

“It will be no longer acceptable to walk into a room where you can’t punch a hole in the wall or break a table and see it splinter.”

Battlefield 4 and other games should have great destruction physics as the next gen consoles will offer much higher processing power for devs to pull it off.
