Hellblade Xbox One X vs PS4 Pro: Microsoft’s Hardware Offers The Best Console Experience

Hellblade offers an extremely impressive experience on the Xbox One X.

Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has been a massive success story for the studio, and this has translated into support for a new platform. The game was originally released for the PlayStation 4 and PC, and now it’s also available for Xbox One. However, this is no simple port for the Microsoft console as Ninja Theory have delivered, one of the best if not the best Xbox One X patches we have seen till date.

To begin with, the Xbox One X version comes with three different graphics modes. These are Enriched Visuals, High Framerate and High Resolution modes. As the name suggests, Enriched Visuals comes very close to PC Ultra settings and provides better asset density in terms of foliage, shadow quality, high resolution textures and better environmental details. The High framerate mode runs the game at a rock solid 60 frames per second and lastly we have the High Resolution mode which runs the game at a dynamic resolution which extends up to 4K. All of these modes can be switched on the fly without the need to restart the game.

Ninja Theory could have easily opted for a single graphical mode like most games do. Scale up the resolution to 4K and call it a day. Fortunately, this is clearly not the case here. In fact, performance across all three modes is rock solid and we observed next to no frame rate issues in  our experience.

Compared to the PS4 Pro version, the Xbox One X version quite clearly excels here. For comparison purpose, we are running the PS4 Pro version at 60fps which renders at 900p. The Xbox One X is the superior version across all modes, there are absolutely no two ways here.

So, this is pretty neat effort by the developers at Ninja Theory. Giving more choice players is always a good thing and it’s nice to see the Xbox One X getting the support it deserves.
