Here’s What The New Oculus Rift Prototype Brings To The Table

Among them: integrated audio and 360° tracking.

Oculus Rift is trucking on as the one, go to, VR gaming solution, in spite of the stiff resistance they faced after Facebook bought out the initiative earlier this year. Anyway, as life and business goes on, and Oculus Rift has gone ahead and introduced a new feature prototype, a pretty cool one that introduces some long requested features that should add to the immersion that virtual reality already promises.

The new prototype is called Crescent Bay, and it features new display technology, 360° head tracking, expanded positional tracking volume, dramatically improved weight and ergonomics, and high-quality integrated audio. Oculus Rift warns that this is still prototype hardware, and that it is in no way representative of the final consumer product, but they also claim that this is the best VR headset that they have ever built.

The Crescent Bay prototype is currently on show at the Oculus Connect show, so if you’re in the area, maybe you can see if you can go check it out.
