Hideo Kojima’s New Studio Won’t have More Than 100 People

Defying AAA game development trends since 2015!

Hideo Kojima’s brand new Kojima Productions will be a relatively intimate affair- as opposed to the development teams for AAA games these days, which can literally number in the thousands, he will be keeping his studio to under a hundred men.

“I’m aiming to keep the staff less than 100 people,” Kojima said through a translator at a recent roundtable discussion, as reported by Game Reactor. “I am searching for technology and at the same time hiring new people, and visiting the studio to get inspiration about what kind of studio I want to make/create.”

This flies in the face of traditional AAA game development, as mentioned above- but then again, Kojima did say he wanted to revert to the older days of game development now that he was no longer working on Metal Gear with Konami.

Of course, the number of people working on a game does not matter- the talent working on it does. And if there is one thing we know, it’s that Hideo Kojima is an extremely talented man.
