Developer Blackbird Interactive and publisher Gearbox have released a new trailer for upcoming space-based real-time strategy game Homeworld 3, this time around focusing on the game’s story. Check it out below.
Shown off during the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023 pre-show, the trailer gives us a look at the state of the Homeworld setting. Homeworld 3, taking place decades after the events of Homeworld 2 and the golden age of galactic prosperity, will feature a new threat looming over the Hiigaran fleet.
Back in July, the studio had revealed that Homeworld 3 will feature fully-animated 3D cutscenes, which is a big change from the franchise’s tradition of having cutscenes with static images created in a highly stylised way. The studio has also revealed some of the smaller new features of Homeworld 3, such as improved barks and chatter between individual units.
Homeworld 3 was originally slated for release in 2023, but the studio has since pushed the release back to February 2024.
