Impire receives “Best in Play” award at GDC

Demo now available on Steam.

The real-time dungeon-building and demon-managing title Impire  has been honored with the “Best in Play” award a the GDC show floor.

Developed by Cyanide Studio Montreal, Impire lets players build their own devious lair as they deem fit, and tasks them with defending it against wayward heroes who intend on looting your precious dungeon. But fear now, as you can marshal mass hordes of demons to fight by your side. The campaign can be tackled alone or cooperatively with a friend.

“It’s fantastic to see Impire honored by a group that lives and breathes interactive entertainment,” said Fredrik Wester, CEO of publisher Paradox Interactive

“GDC Play and the Game Developers Conference are put together by the leaders and pioneers of our industry, and to receive an award from them is very gratifying. It gives me hope for the future of our own secret twisted underground kingdom.”

To celebrate the occasion, the developer has released a playable demo on Steam.

Paradox Interactive  has also released a behind the scenes video showcasing the vocal prowess of comedian John Pinette, who provides the voice for the leading imp Baal-Abaddon. Check it out below.
