The euphoria behind the Wii U’s rise last week with Pikmin 3 was short-lived it seems, as yet another Nintendo franchise, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. has claimed the top spot in this week’s software sales according to the latest Media Create sales charts (courtesy of Gematsu).
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. went on to sell 99,972 units in its first week, with Pikmin 3 tumbling down into third place with 28,513 units sold this week (with 121,233 lifetime sales units). Yokai Watch, another 3DS title, sold 29,102 units this week and managed to hang on at number 2 with 82,756 units sold since release.
Meanwhile, Level 5’s Danball Senki W Super Custom debuted this week with 27,242 units sold at fourth place. Tomodachi Collection: New Life managed to sell 26,799 units this week – with 1,286,646 units sold over its lifetime – to remain in fifth place.
So while Nintendo still dominates the top 5, it’s a little disheartening to see the long-awaited Pikmin 3 dip so low after just one week. Let’s see how sales over the next few months play out.
