Japan Software Sales: Disney Magic Castle Premieres at Number 1

Killer is Dead, meanwhile, debuts at fifth place.

The recent Nintendo Direct presentation has showcased a bunch of new titles coming for the Nintendo 3DS in North America and Europa. However, in Japan, the handheld continues to do great guns. Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life recently debuted and managed to sell 119,154 units in its first week according to the latest Media Create sales charts (courtesy Gematsu).

Capcom’s Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, despite dropping down to second place, is still doing fairly well with 40,203 units sold this week (with lifetime sales at 290,419 units). Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. is at third place with 32,537 units sold, garnering 176,230 units over its lifetime. Tomodachi Collection: New Life is still very much in the top 5 as well, with 21,313 units sold to average 1,330,780 units over its lifetime.

Surprisingly, Suda 51’s Killer is Dead had a rather somber opening, debuting for PS3 with just 17,709 units sold. Initial reviews haven’t exactly been glowing either, criticizing the game for its length. Hopefully its Western release will be more receptive.
