Well, that was my fvcking point, dumbass. If you DON'T know the difference between the two, then clearly you are a moron. If someone is anti-Catholicism, that doesn't make them an atheist, or pro-Jew/pro-Baptist/pro-(pick-a-denomination). Likewise, if someone is anti-McDonald's, it doesn't make them, by default, pro-Burger King or pro-Wendy's.

BTW, I don't NEED a refund on my education, because I was on scholarship...but it would seem you never got one AT ALL.

1. It's beyond Gimmicks when other industries start adapting the same tool for their own use, to make improvements in said fields. (You "quoted" my statement but made your own interpretation of it) , do your own homework, besides the specific example with the deaf I gave you (using the kinect 2, good try) I figured you could go as far to google the rest to learn what others are doing with it.

Kinect2 has been out for a very short period of time and it's already made a big impression, I'm sure we will see big things by others soon enough much further than just games, especially since Microsoft has had no choice but to support those tinkering with their kinect. To ignore this and try to compare the Sony eye to the Kinect 2, I have to assume your ignorant or fan boy blinded?

As far as the facial expressions go, who knows how many games, counting on Project Spark to help other developers realize the potential then we'll go from there better then never having it all (ps4).

As far as gimmicks go, I'm very happy that every one of the Xboxones will come with this "Gimmick". In the first couple of years can you imagine the difference between the amount of applications for the Kinect compared to the eye, simply because everybody with an Xbox has a Kinect? I believe everybody knows it's going to have it's flaws at first, but once they get past that, going to be an amazing accessory one that even 3rd parties are ALREADY utilizing.

Hey worst comes to worst and the kinect does suck then my consoles will be the same with different exclusives, if not then I'll have 1 console that can do stuff the other console can't :-P

Do you think talented developers just fall out of a tree? They have to hone their craft over years. Instead of proclaiming your ignorance with pride, why don't you take a moment to learn where the guy came from.

@THWIP71:disqus

Pro Sony / Anti MS what is really the difference you are splitting hairs. Why don't you address what I said and not just cherry pick your arguments?

The only thing that is a waste of time is any money invested in your education, you should really get a refund.

@jasonandrewhahn:disqus

I was going by your comment, and I quote...

so keep saying gimmick , the kinect has gone beyond that

If you are talking about just voice commands you don't need Kinect for that. So are we talking about Kinect or Voice Commands?

use face expressions through the kinect in game that's enough for me

There must be literally 3 maybe 4 games that will support this feature. :)

As long as the fitness applications keep track without a hitch then bam, perfect for me.

Kinect is a good fit for fitness apps, but I hear that Sony's new camera will track just about as well. I hear the new dance and fitness games will not require move.

I'm talking about what other industries such as the hospitals playing with the kinect to better communicate with deaf and mutes, the auto industry has already took this tool and started to figure out how to apply uses

It sounds like these features left quite an impression on you. You can't even seem to recall what exactly Kinect is doing in these applications. :)

On one hand this is great new fascinating tech on the other hand it seems largely forgettable. :) LOL

theres plenty of vids of the tech geeks making miraculous things happen with it.

Yeah but most of that was for Kinect 1 when it came out 3 years ago or so? I hadn't seen any news stories about it since than. I suspect most of that PR was buttressed by Microsoft to help sell the unit.

The kinect is already a net positive to society, if motion gaming improves as a result of the regular joe being able to play with sophisticated technology so be it.

I am not saying that there isn't a good application for Motion/Facial interpretation, I just feel right now where technology is, there are far too many things that prevent it from being a primary control scheme for hard core games. As I noted before (animation disconnects) which you immediately changed your tune and focused on the voice command aspects (which only require a mic).

Then you and your uncle can kick rocks, pretty foolish to make such a prediction at the start of a new generation ...besides me not caring about motion gaming I absolutely believe your wrong *for the record*

Hey it was my Uncle's saying and considering motion gaming has been here since the Wii, I would say that the saying is 100% appropriate. I mean even Nintendo has relaxed from it's motion high and deliver a console with a normal controller. Third party devs made that a requirement. MS including Kinect with every XBONE is saying it is essential to your XBONE experience. Something that is included should work for everyone 100% of the time, if it does not that item should likely be an option. None of this stuff is flawless, not saying MS hasn't done a great job, but they still haven't demonstrated any reason that every XBONE customer HAS to absolutely HAVE this device. Everything they have shown can be boiled down to a gimmick. Sure voice controls are cool, but you can do stuff faster with your controller, hence it is a gimmick. A very well polished gimmick, but gimmick none the less.

I say this as a guy that owns the PS Camera, and I freely admit that it's a gimmick. I am just being honest with myself and not placing tons of hope in a technology that for gaming applications has largely been unproven as a full time replacement for the controller.

I don't make it a point to frequent his twitter, I have read some of his stuff in the past, but I am saying I don't disagree with what he is saying here.

Your comment demonstrates that you didn't even read THIS article, but yet that didn't stop you from being qualified to have an ignorant opinion of this.

Blow explains his position in the console wars. He is an indie dev, I am sure Sony offered him a position (like they did with ThatGameCompany), but obviously he likes his autonomy.

Just accusing this guy of being Pro-Sony is flat out stupid. Some of his issues with MS were purely the way MS managed their relationships with indie developers.

MS and Sony do things differently, they each have strengths and weaknesses. I am a big fan of PlayStation but I am not blind to the fact that MS overall has much better software. That competition has driven Sony to do better. Sony offers much better value with PS+, that has prompted MS to deliver more value with XBL. Sony is great with indie developers and if indie developers remark on how nice their experience is with Sony vs. MS it is because that is one area of weakness (relative) to Sony.

Now go ahead and call me a fanboy. You will only erode your own credibility.

Fuck motion gaming, I never said motion gaming. If I can give voice commands and use face expressions through the kinect in game that's enough for me, As long as the fitness applications keep track without a hitch then bam, perfect for me. I wasn't talking about motion gaming. I'm talking about what other industries such as the hospitals playing with the kinect to better communicate with deaf and mutes, the auto industry has already took this tool and started to figure out how to apply uses and theres plenty of vids of the tech geeks making miraculous things happen with it.

The kinect is already a net positive to society, if motion gaming improves as a result of the regular joe being able to play with sophisticated technology so be it. Then you and your uncle can kick rocks, pretty foolish to make such a prediction at the start of a new generation ...besides me not caring about motion gaming I absolutely believe your wrong *for the record*
