June SDK May Make It Possible For Diablo 3 To Hit 1080p on Xbox One

Man, developers, make your minds up already, won't you?

I’m hearing so much about the Xbox One’s ability to output games at a rendered native resolution of 1080p- something that flat out shouldn’t matter, incidentally, since it in no way affects the quality of the games involved- that it’s driving me nuts. I simply couldn’t care less about any of it if I tried. And the worst part is, all the reports we hear about it seem to be conflicting.

So hot on the heels of yesterday’s report that told us how the ESRAM presented a natural bottleneck for games trying to output in 1080p on Xbox One, we have Blizzard coming out and saying that with the new June SDK for the Xbox One, Diablo III may be able to hit 1080p on Microsoft’s console. Currently, it outputs in 900p.

“It’s possible,” Blizzard’s Julia Humphreys said. “We’d just need to look at what that would require, and we’ve actually [talked to] Microsoft about that.”

Right. Well when all you developers finally make your mind up about how many dots there are on my screen when I am playing an Xbox One game, it’ll be just splendid if you let me know as well. Cheers.
