Killer Bean is a New Roguelike Action Game Coming to PC This Summer

Killer Bean is being made by a solo developer who has previously worked as an animator on The Matrix: Reloaded.

Killer Bean is a new indie shooter that was unveiled during Summer Game Fest 2024. Made by solo developer Jeff Lew, Killer Bean puts players in the shoes of a rogue assassin coffee bean. Jeff Lew is known for his work in animation, with The Matrix: Reloaded being one of the projects he worked on.

The game is a roguelike, with its story changing every single time the player starts a fresh run. These runs have a host of different gameplay mechanics, from third-person action gameplay inspired by classics like Max Payne, to first-person combat, and even driving segments.

Killer Bean doesn’t yet have a release date, but will be coming to PC as an early access release in Summer 2024. According to its Steam page, Killer Bean is planned for early access for 1-2 years, with major updates coming to the game every two months.

The game’s procedurally-generated story is a big feature, with characters going through big enough changes where those that you trusted in a previous run could be just as likely to betray you on the next. The game is slated to have plenty of different factions full of enemies, as well as a large arsenal of guns, as well as vehicles.
