Lawbreakers, Cliff Bleszinski’s arena shooter, was sadly a victim of poor marketing and bad timing, and ended up floundering really badly. It’s a shame, because the game wasn’t even all that bad- it was just a victim of circumstance.
Lawbreakers‘ poor performance was blamed on the sudden breakout success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds by publisher Nexon America last month; now, said publisher has seen some layoffs. These layoffs, however, are routine, and not a fallout of Lawbreakers, they confirmed in a statement to GamesIndustry. Which makes sense, because the fallout of Lawbreakers‘ failure would be felt more by the developers than the publishers.
Hopefully, the people who all lost their jobs manage to get back on their feet again some time soon. Meanwhile, if you want to give Lawbreakers a go, it is available now on PlayStation 4 and PC (and it’s a cheaper priced title too, so you won’t have to swallow the bitter full-priced game pill with it).
