League of Legends hits 5 million concurrent players

Great achievement for Riot Games.

Riot Games have announced on their blog that League of Legends has hit a new milestone of 5 million peak concurrent players.

What this means is they may have a bigger active userbase than Steam, although, Steam may have surpassed that since we have reported earlier that the service hit 6 million concurrent users.

The concurrent base is not something to brush off because they need proper infrastructure in place to handle all that traffic.

“League of Legends hit a new milestone, now regularly exceeding five million peak concurrent players globally,” the blog read. “That’s a few more than we reported back in October. We’re humbled by the support of players and now more than ever feel the weight of those expectations. Good luck, have fun, and please have mercy on our servers.”

They have also released an infographic of the same which you can check out above.
