Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Digital Deluxe Edition Suits Can’t be Unlocked In-Game

The ten unique Suits, five each for Peter Parker and Miles Morales, are only unlocked by purchasing the Digital Deluxe Edition.

Pre-orders are now live for the Collector’s Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 via PlayStation Direct. Retailing for £219.99/$229.99, it includes the Digital Deluxe Edition, a 19-inch state of Venom, a SteelBook case and more. The Digital Deluxe Edition is interesting since it has ten unique Suits, five for Peter Parker and five for Miles Morales.

It’s a large number, and unfortunately, these aren’t unlocked early, like the Arachknight Suit or the Shadow-Spider Suit when pre-ordering. Responding to a tweet about whether the Digital Deluxe Edition Suits can be earned via in-game progression, Insomniac Games responded, “No. They’re exclusive to the Digital Deluxe Edition.”

Several Deluxe Editions for first-party PS5 titles provided early access to items that could be unlocked by playing the game, ensuring Standard Edition owners weren’t left out. The reason for this decision in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is unclear, but it isn’t the first of its kind. Insomniac received backlash for locking Suits in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered from owners of the base game before eventually adding them to the latter for free.

Time will tell if Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 takes a similar route, so stay tuned. It’s out on October 20th for PS5.
