Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Had a Total Budget of $315 Million

Leaked Insomniac documents also reveal projected budgets of $305 million and $385 million for Marvel's Wolverine and Marvel's Spider-Man 3 respectively.

Insomniac Games has suffered a large-scale leak following a recent ransomware attack, and alongside plans for multiple major upcoming titles planned for the next several years, the leak also includes details on the development budgets and sales figures for a number of titles, both released and upcoming.

The leak, which was shared on Reddit, reveals that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had total budget of $315 million (which is par for the course for modern AAA productions), and is projected to sell 10.5 million units, amounting to a 35% return on investment and total profits of $75 million. Given that the game had already sold over 5 million units as of last month, those might seem like conservative projections.

The leak also reveals that Insomniac is projecting Marvel’s Spider-Man 3which is seemingly targeting 2028 release – to sell 14.5 million units, which will amount to a 75% return on investment and profits of $170 million against a total budget of $385 million. Meanwhile, Insomniac is also expecting Marvel’s Wolverine to have a budget of $305 million and sell 10 million units, which means an $85 million profit and a 40% return on investment.

Details on the sales figures and budgets for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales have also emerged.

Meanwhile, Insomniac’s ransomware leak has also leaked multiple planned unannounced games, including an X-Men series that will begin with the Wolverine game, a new Ratchet and Clank instalment, and a new IP.
